Battery charger VAS 622 001A

The VAS 622 001A is a stabilised power source based on inverter technology with a charging current of max. 100 A at 12 V for all starter batteries in the Group.

It is no longer possible to imagine a conventional combustion engine or an e-vehicle without a 12 V battery. For example, all of the on-board electronics are powered by the 12 V battery. However, lithium batteries are also increasingly being used. The new battery charger model therefore has a separate mode for charging lithium batteries.

12 V lithium batteries have the property that they are protected against deep discharge by an electromechanical separator element (contactor). A distinction is drawn between a hard close and a soft close for the contactor. If it is in hard close, the 12 V lithium battery can no longer be reactivated. However, if the battery is in soft close, the VAS 622 001A can detect this and reacts as follows in “Lithium charging” mode:

1. If the contactor of the 12 V lithium battery is open, this is detected by the device and the user must confirm charging again. The battery charger will then close the contacts and enter charging mode again.

2. If the 12 V battery is in the normal state (neither soft close nor hard close), the battery charger will perform an automatic charging process.

Other modes on the VAS 622 001A battery charger are the following:

• iCheck (as before)
• Diag+ mode (as before)
• Charging of lead-acid batteries at two power levels is new: With a maximum power of up to 100 A and up to 50 A

Fourteen languages (German, English, French, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Russian, Danish, Finnish, Turkish, Croatian, Greek) can be retrieved via the display.

The device has all necessary functions for charging all currently known group starter batteries.

Please note that an operating temperature of max. 40 °C should not be exceeded.
