Using the measuring device, carbon ceramic brake discs are surveyed during the production process and labelled with predefined measuring points. With the VAS 6813, it is possible to assess the wear status at these measuring points easily and without removing the disc. The integrated laser enables precise positioning and the housing corresponds to protection class IP54.

The individual brake discs are measured during the production process and marked with predefined checkpoints.
With Carboteq®, it is possible to easily calculate the wear at these checkpoints without removing the brake disc.

Design and features:
Carbon ceramic brake discs comprise short carbon fibres embedded in silicon carbide (SiC).
The carbon fibres within the extremely tough and resistant SiC matrix provide stiffness and fracture toughness.
If heat is generated during the braking process, these carbon fibres oxidise and the stiffness of the disc starts to deteriorate.
Based on the pulse induction process, the Carboteq-Tester® measures the condition of the carbon fibre structure and enables the extent of the oxidation to be determined.
The patented measuring technology and the shape of the Carboteq-Tester® have been specially optimised to the geometry of the brake discs. The integrated laser enables precise positioning and the robust housing is designed for the stresses involved in workshop use.
